Phish Setlist: 4 23 23 Hollywood Bowl, LA CA Night 3

Hotel rooms all around Las Vegas overlook the big ol’ orb, which can be (and has been) made to look like a basketball, a skeptical emoji, a jack-o’-lantern, and—ohgodpleaseno—an eye. This month, when A24 put out a bunch of promotional posters for its new Civil War movie that show beloved landmarks across the country being destroyed in battle, Sphere was one of them. Will Phish let it all hang out in the final show of this mini-tour? The entire run had been available at Live Phish to view live or on demand after the fact. In fact, they are known for their legendary live shows, which often involve extended improvisational segments and elaborate stage setups. “Strange Design” was written by Trey Anastasio and Tom Marshall and is widely believed to be inspired by Anastasio’s relationship with his wife, Sue. The song’s lyrics describe the complexities and challenges of love, and the need to embrace change and impermanence. This project serves to compile, preserve, and protect encyclopedic information about Phish and their music.

“Billy Breathes” is widely regarded as one of Phish’s best albums, and features some of their most beloved songs, including “Strange Design”. The album was produced by Steve Lillywhite, who had previously worked with bands like U2 and The Rolling Stones, and helped to give Phish’s sound a more polished, radio-friendly sheen. The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community. If you’re a fan of “Strange Design”, you might also enjoy other Phish classics like “Harry Hood”, “Waste”, “Twist”, and “Reba”. These songs share a similar emotional depth and musical complexity to “Strange Design”. Phish is still an active band and continues to tour regularly.

Music, Songs & Lyrics

I wrote this song, um, and um, about, I think about three weeks before my wife and I were about to have our first child, which was incredibly 14 years ago. And, um, um, I wrote this, um, sitting, kind of leaning on my back against the wall and kind of, um, thinking about making that strange step from being a non-parent to a parent and that, all the weird feeling and whatnot. Phish.net is a non-commercial project run by Phish fans and for Phish fans under the auspices of the all-volunteer, non-profit Mockingbird Foundation.

“We’re basically VJ’ing on a 16,000-by-16,000-pixel ratio for Sphere,” Jean says. Phish is generally considered to be a jam band, with a style that draws on elements of rock, funk, jazz, and other genres. The band is known for their improvisational style and their live performances, which often involve extended jams and intricate musical interplay. The lyrics of “Strange Design” are open to interpretation, but there are a few key themes that emerge. The song’s opening lines, “Every strange design/Every new dream woven in/Is a ghost, a ghost in time” suggest that nothing lasts forever, and that all relationships go through periods of flux and transition. The second theme is the idea of acceptance and letting go.

Setlist History: The First Bonnaroo in 2002

(Other discarded design concepts included “a muffin, a box and even a pyramid.”) It is a big-ass blank canvas with seemingly boundless creative potential. Which is why it was such a perfect match for the innovative eccentricity of Phish. A glimmering globe, a monocultural marvel, Sphere looks like a crystal ball on the outside and feels like a virtual reality visit to a combination Guggenheim-IMAX planetarium on the inside. Sphere opened in September after five years of construction and cost a reported $2.3 billion to build, which is probably why a humble pint of beer inside the arena will run you, like, $20.

Then there were the clouds shaped like turtles and seahorses. And the golden tribute to longtime Phish artiste Jim Pollock’s towering body of work, one that the man himself was as delighted to see as anyone else in the building. And the skies full of stars, and the mountains in the mist. From my seat I could see show director Abigail Rosen Holmes make dynamic adjustments to the visuals to better allow the band to noodle. It has audio technology I’m not qualified to understand that precision snipes you one minute and warm hugs you the next and somehow doesn’t leave your ears ringing either way. It is an idea that was born when entertainment titan James Dolan sketched a circle with a stick figure inside.

We hope you enjoy the articles and insights they bring to our platform. Phish’s music is known for its combination of catchy hooks, intricate musical arrangements, and extended improvisational sections. The band draws on a wide variety of musical influences, including rock, jazz, funk, bluegrass, and classical music. The meaning of “Strange Design” is open to interpretation, but it is generally understood to be a song about the challenges of love and relationships. The lyrics suggest that love is a force that can overcome obstacles, but that it requires acceptance, understanding, and an openness to change.

And since we're entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we've distributed over $2 million to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way. Phish is an American rock band known for their jam band style of music and unique songwriting. One of the band’s most beloved songs is “Strange Design” from their 1994 album, “Billy Breathes”. This song has captivated fans with its poignant lyrics and beautiful melody. In this article, we’ll delve into the story behind “Strange Design” and explore its hidden meanings and inspirations.

They have hundreds of songs in their live catalog—though only a small handful ever made it to mainstream radio. The band has appeared on Beavis & Butthead—the fellas approved! —and The Simpsons, where cartoon Phish plays “Run Like an Antelope” at a medicinal marijuana rally. Moment Factory contributed to the set design that ensured Kuroda’s lighting rig and Sphere’s screen could live in harmony. And furthermore, Sphere has provided an opportunity for the company to expand its early 2000s roots in multimedia to staggering proportions.

Cutting it was one of those great decisions – after working so long and hard on the song, sacrificing it for the good of the album took a very wide focus – as much thought went into cutting it as went into recording it.

Over the course of their four Sphere shows, Phish not only played 68 unique songs—the band also organized them into four guessable nightly themes that eventually coalesced, by the end of the run, into a whole overarching thing. But Phish has never been some anyband that just plays the hits—partly because, and I say this with reverence, Phish doesn’t really have hits, at least not in the conventional, played-constantly-on-FM-radio sense. Ask 10 different phans to recommend a starter song and you’ll get about seven different answers, and all of them will be right. It’s a party of abundance where everyone present leaves with a gift. Phish’s penchant for newness is, in Holmes’ estimation, what will define the band’s Sphere run — and it explains why the booking appealed to the band in the first place. It’s a marked contrast from U2, which kept its show more or less the same for each of the 40 nights it played Sphere, and designed impressive song-specific visuals for several key tracks.

A four-person musical collective that was formed in the ’80s by a bunch of shaggy teenaged buddies in Vermont, Phish is at once an American cultural institution and a clichéd punch line, a religious experience and a niche act. Frontman Trey Anastasio, drummer Jon Fishman, pianist Page McConnell, and bassist Mike Gordon have played more shows at Madison Square Garden than anyone besides Billy Joel, having passed Elton John on the leaderboard last year. They routinely show up on annual lists of the year’s highest-grossing tours.

The creative team for the band's four-night Las Vegas run, set for April 18-21, explain how to conceptualize an advanced sensory experience for a band whose signature is improvisation. Phish is known for their legendary live performances, which often involve extended musical improvisation and intricate, highly choreographed light shows. Some of their most famous live performances include their 1996 Halloween show in Atlanta, where they covered the soundtrack to The Beatles’ “White Album”. They also performed a 13-night residency at Madison Square Garden in 2017 that was widely regarded as one of the highlights of their career. “Strange Design” was written by Trey Anastasio, Phish’s lead vocalist and guitarist, and his longtime collaborator, Tom Marshall.

The lights went up, and this time the walkout song of choice was the Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star”—once upon a time the very first music video to air on MTV. It was a nice wink to the 160,000-square-foot Sphere screen, which had just spent several days dominating phans’ fields of sight and senses of scale and depths of imagination. And in the end, it was a clever reminder that Phish really doesn’t slot neatly into common industry trends and tropes and aphorisms and stereotypes. Phish was never really much of a “radio star.” Which is maybe why, all these years later, the band is as alive as ever, still discovering—and providing—new highs. Before a COVID-rescheduled set of shows brought the band to Madison Square Garden on that date in 2022, Phish hadn’t played on 4/20 since 1994, when Dave Matthews Band opened for it at a venue called Virginia Horse Center, which featured a dirt floor and cost $16.50 to enter.

How Much Does It Cost to Build a House In Los Angeles?

building your own house

There are several factors that go into building costs, such as labor availability, size of the home, material costs, energy efficiency, and location. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the national average cost for a new home in 2024 was $400,500. The average cost for landscaping is around $8,150, but depending on the size of your lawn, labor costs, and design complexity, it could range anywhere from $2,600 to $13,700. Lighting installation costs depend on the fixture type — ceiling lights, recessed lights, pendant lights and so on all have different labor costs.

Footings are installed.

You may also wish to include landscaping and other details in your budget. Builders may offer incentives such as closing cost assistance, appliance packages, upgrade packages, design center credits, and warranty extensions. You won't have to worry about maintenance issues that come with older homes. It's a great opportunity to start fresh and create the home of your dreams!.

A beginner's guide to planning permission

Don’t forget to budget for homeowner’s insurance, homeowner’s association (HOA) fees, and property taxes for your new California home. Insurance rates are the second-lowest in the country in California at an average of $1,166 per year, according to Insurance.com, compared to the national average of $2,305. Californians pay an average of $3,800 in annual property taxes with a typical rate of 0.71 percent. Building up is generally less expensive than building out, so having multiple stories is a good way to minimize your home's footprint and build cost. Two-story homes are popular, as they potentially double the property's floor space without increasing the footprint. Three-story homes are common, but the cost savings are minimal because of the logistics of building a third story.

How long does it take to get a home construction loan?

If the home has a full basement, the hole is dug, the footings are formed and poured, and the foundation walls are formed and poured. “They spend a good bit of time designing the home to be unique to their family needs and tastes so seeing it all come together is rewarding for them,” Perschino says. When hiring an architect, you should already have an understanding of what is important to you, your special needs, the relationship of the living spaces, and general concepts. Know what you want aesthetically, and make sure the architect has done a project like yours before.

Land Prep

The HVAC is hooked up (including the thermostat), and the fans, lights, electrical outlets, external electrical work, and the circuit breaker are also hooked up and ready to go. With the sheathing attached to the bones of the house, the windows and doors can be installed. Once the land is cleared, the clearing team will fill in any holes and level the ground.

They’re used only to finance home construction (not the land or permanent mortgage). Cellulose insulation is used in existing and enclosed walls, or new open cavities in the wall. This insulation can be used in unfinished attic floors and other hard to reach places. This type of insulation can be poured, but is usually blown into place using special equipment. The average cost of cellulose insulation is about $1.20 per square foot.

California is known for having extensive permit requirements that can add to the time it takes to build there. The average cost of permits for newly built homes in the state is $8,000, which will be wrapped into the price of your new home. The mandate for solar panels adds approximately $8,500 to the cost of your home.

Others can provide a ‘turnkey’ solution, where everything down to the underfloor heating and plug sockets can be included. On to the fun part – working with an architect to design your future home. You have free rein to create a living space that works for your lifestyle, and opportunity to future-proof your investment. For instance, if you’re moving in with young children you might want to think about how they’ll use the space as teenagers. Or, if you see yourself living there well into retirement, you may need to think about accessibility measures.

He continues, ‘It’s well worth speaking to a local architect to see what their advice would be about greenbelt regulations. On top of financial support from loan schemes, you can reclaim VAT on most materials and fittings for your self-build home - providing significant savings. However, if you hire subcontractors that have added VAT to their bill or are in any doubt about what zero-rate VAT applies to, it’s worth finding out more about how to reclaim your VAT. Shop around for building quotes and get a full breakdown on the details to provide a like-for-like comparison. Research alternative materials and look for construction methods that offer a cost saving (without compromising on quality).

Your first step when building a home in California is to get preapproved for a loan. While costs vary by location, the average size of a home in California is 1,625 square feet, with an average price per square foot of $240, according to HomeAdvisor. The price per square foot depends on the quality of construction and finishes and can range from as low as $85 to as much as $445 per square foot. When you plan to build a new home in California, it’s important to clarify whether you are thinking about a custom home or what’s called a “production” home. A custom home, which you can build on your own land or on a lot owned by a builder, usually requires you to hire an architect or a design/build company.

Or you might take a hands-off approach and employ a project manager to co-ordinate everything for you. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is a good place to start the search for an architect who’s on your wavelength. They have a ‘find an architect’ search tool you can use to narrow down the search and be matched with RIBA accredited Chartered Practices.

The sheathing is then covered with a protective barrier known as a house wrap; it prevents water from infiltrating the structure while allowing water vapor to escape. The floor system, walls, and roof system (collectively known as the shell or skeleton of the house) are completed. After the concrete is cured, the crew applies a waterproofing membrane to the foundation walls.

The cost to install flooring will depend on the type of floors you choose. Hardwood and tile typically cost more than vinyl or linoleum or carpet, but the average cost is around $3,500 per 500-square-foot space. In addition, on the exterior, the driveway, walkways, and patios are formed at this stage.

But, especially starting out, they’re not as important as you might expect. Instead, you’ll assign families to buildings and, by extension, assign them to jobs. Think of it like the way surnames and bynames evolved in late Medieval western Europe — people working in a bakery took the last name Baker, sheep herders took the last name Shepherd, etc. Don’t make combat your focus going in — and, for that matter, don’t expect combat to be a focus at all, really.

Once everything is finally looking like a home, installing the finishing touches should only take a few weeks. The walls get a final coat of paint or are wallpapered where applicable. Interior doors, baseboards, door casings, windowsills, moldings, stair balusters, and other decorative trim are installed. Drywall is hung on the interior walls and taped so the seams between the boards aren’t visible, and drywall texturing (if applicable) is completed.

However, the process may also be daunting if you’ve never done it before. Beyond visiting your home site for specific walk-throughs, it’s up to you and your builder to determine how often you should visit. Keep in mind that all visits should be booked in advance with the construction manager and that all safety protocols must be followed. It’s also an opportunity to spot items that need to be corrected or adjusted, so be attentive and observant. Examine the surfaces of countertops, fixtures, floors, and walls for possible damage.

Half of the cost to build a house in California will come from the materials. However, the overall cost will vary based on the size of the home and the quality and type of materials you choose throughout the build process. The below cost breakdown doesn’t include the price of land and permitting, which can increase your budget significantly depending on where you’re building your home. The cost to build a house in Los Angeles, California ranges from $140 to $300 per square foot depending on the grade of construction you choose (not including the cost of sitework or land). To get a more accurate cost for your home building project, request a quote.

You’ll also need to contract a builder who can construct the house itself. Form a budget at the early stages of this project, and communicate regularly with both architect and builder to ensure that the construction stays on schedule. With such a huge project, however, it’s hard to know where to even begin. Fortunately, the process doesn’t have to be so daunting if you simply make a list of everything you need to do and the order you need to do it in. Start by purchasing a piece of land where you can break ground on your new home. Then, put together a house plan with the help of an architect and hire a team of builders to make your dream a reality.

Prices have gone up 5% to 10% this year, and many parts of the country are experiencing long delivery times. If you're planning a building project, we recommend starting as early as possible in the season, preparing for potential price fluctuations, and allowing extra time to order materials. No, unless you’re acting as the contractor on your project, the builder will provide a dumpster and portable toilet for contractors. If you have any questions about where those items will be located or cost factors, ask your builder.

It may be helpful to do a site analysis with an architect before you purchase the land. One way to split the difference between buying and building is rehabbing. That is, you buy a house with a lot and foundation, and finance your renovations right into the purchase. In addition to making your home eco-friendly, adding Energy Star or green appliances makes it energy-efficient, reducing utility costs. You can choose to invest more in some areas of the house and less in others.

Another way to save money can be to find a builder who offers a design and build service, working with an in-house architect. This can reduce how much you spend on architect fees and can have indirect cost-saving benefits too – as your builder will already have a close working relationship with the architect. This can leave less room for communication delays and costly misunderstandings.

All of the features – from the doorknobs and countertops to the type of heating and arrangement of rooms – are up to you. To know what to do, you must consider how you wish to use the space. The questions and suggestions in this section should help you make your architectural program. The builder should include a description of materials and a cost breakdown, which you’ll need when you apply for a construction loan. However, approval policies, costs, and loan terms can vary significantly. So compare construction loan costs to see what you can afford and interview lenders carefully before applying for loans.

Some are better off subcontracted out as speciality services, such as installing electric, plumbing, and HVAC. Tell us what you are looking for and receive free cost estimates without any obligation. Farms and farmland are a thing you’ll deal with in Manor Lords as your town grows.

The final cost of the foundation will depend on the slope grade, as California isn’t known for flat land. Houses in California are typically built on a slab foundation, and the cost to build a basement is higher than in most places, with prices of up to $50,000. Demand for siding and other building materials has grown over the past year.

House on Haunted Hill is a far better movie than Macabre, both creepy and camp and anchored by Price’s reliable eerie charm. The pull, however, was "Emergo." Certain theaters were rigged up with pulley systems that allowed them to fly a skeleton over the audience during a scene in the film where a skeleton attacks one of the house's visitors. Some kids started trying to pull it from the ceiling while others knocked it around with their popcorn cups. The most conservative estimates have House on Haunted Hill making back over 12 times its initial budget. In 2007, the film was followed up with a direct-to-DVD sequel, Return to House on Haunted Hill, with Jeffrey Combs reprising his role as Vannacut and was released in both rated and unrated editions.

“The Interstate 81 Viaduct Project will serve as a national example of how thoughtful infrastructure can bring people together, promote growth, and increase prosperity for all communities,” New York Gov. Neri’s order states that demolition of the viaduct could not begin until the supplement is completed, though he did allow work on the early contracts to proceed. Attorneys for Renew 81 then sought to reargue their points in order to prevent any work from moving forward, but in May the judge denied the request.

The State is considering legislation to allow Design-Build project delivery for a limited number of transportation projects. This initiative is being considered to achieve time and cost savings as well as to expand the potential for use of innovative construction technology in some transportation projects. The Federal Government and several States use this project delivery method to assure the long term durability and quality of transportation projects, and New York State needs to have the capability to employ this method.

I-81 Project Documents

The plan calls for I-81 to be rerouted from a viaduct through Syracuse to the existing path of I-481, which loops around the city. The state-favored design, known as the “community grid” plan, would involve demolishing the 1.4-mile viaduct and replacing it with an at-grade road that would be designated Business Loop 81. Controversy continues to swirl around the $2.25-billion Interstate 81 Viaduct Project in Syracuse, N.Y., which state and federal officials have touted as a way to reconnect communities once severed by Interstate construction. State officials recently announced the award of a second contract for the project, but over half of the plan remains temporarily barred from moving forward by a state judge. We understand their success is our success, so we approach each project one relationship at a time. We succeed because we understand the ultimate needs and requirements of our clients.

Working closely with the construction joint venture of SKE (Skanska-Kiewit-ECCO III), HNTB’s team implemented leading-edge design solutions to improve constructability and minimize unique environmental, traffic, construction and community impacts – all packaged in an iconic design. New York officials have touted the community grid option as a design that would help reconnect predominantly Black neighborhoods that were split by the viaduct’s construction decades ago. But the community advocates say the state’s review of the plan did not adequately evaluate the impact of added traffic in their neighborhoods along proposed Business Loop 81. Following a ceremonial groundbreaking July 21, state officials announced the award of the $384.5-million second design-build contract to CNY Alliance, a team including a joint venture of A.

Earlier this year, state officials awarded a $296.4-million contract to Salt City Constructors LLC, a team of Lancaster Development and Tully Construction Co. Inc., for the first phase of work including the northern interchange reconstruction. Work on both contracts is scheduled to complete in late 2025, according to state Dept. of Transportation records. In addition to its significant experience with PDB, as well as technical experience in similar transit projects, SFTC had the highest-rated plan for “cultural competency” in its contract proposal. SFTVC’s cultural competency plan best encompassed consideration of race, ethnicity, gender, immigration status, languages spoken, socioeconomics and public transportation dependency, among others.

nysdot design build

During Phase I, SFTC will complete design validation, identify and negotiate early works packages, such as advanced utility relocations and final design, and develop the scope of work and price for Phase 2. Phase 1 will end if Metro and SFTC agree to a guaranteed maximum price and Metro will issue a supplement to the project contract to proceed to Phase 2, kicking off the construction portion of the project. As defined, the Design-Build method offers the client a single point of responsibility, thereby reducing Client risk and overall cost. We are able to manage your project from conceptual design through construction as your primary contact. We have found that this way of working offers a smooth transition between design and construction, more attention to detail during construction, and a more effective line of communication for the entire team.

The joint venture firm identified at least 20 community-based stakeholder organizations to engage as part of the pre-construction design-build process, with a particular focus on Spanish-language outreach. Our projects range from residential remodels, new custom homes, site planning, sustainable design and construction, landscape environments, hillside expansions and repair, in-house custom woodworking and concrete, boutique retail spaces, and industrial contemporary office renovations. Further contracts under the community grid plan would cover reconstruction of parts of I-690, which meets I-81 in downtown Syracuse, demolition of the viaduct, construction of Business Loop 81 and various bridge replacements, street reconstructions and other local street improvements. State transportation officials had planned for work on some of those contracts to start this year. With Board approval of this contract, SFTC will as part of Phase 1 review existing design work, conduct constructability review, value engineering, bottoms-up cost estimate and schedule.

Metro is planning to employ Progressive Design-Build (PDB), an innovative and potentially cost-efficient construction methodology, to build the light rail line. PDB has become more common in public-sector projects in recent years and has proven to help decrease project change orders, delays and cost overruns. PDB can also help reduce scope and schedule creep by addressing the highest risk elements much earlier in the process, well before construction begins. We offer schematic design/early design study, site planning, construction documents, and permitting. Full construction services include cost analysis, feasibility study, schedule analysis, construction, construction management, and client representation. The newly awarded contract’s scope covers reconstruction of the current southern interchange of I-81 and I-481, reconstruction of another I-481 interchange with State Routes 5 and 92 and improvements along other stretches of the interstate highway loop.

The rail line will also provide key linkages with Metro bus lines, including the G Line (Orange) in Van Nuys and municipally operated bus lines. "Having engaged Dynamic Builders to construct some twenty industrial buildings, I am pleased to report that each project was delivered per agreed-upon construction specifications, in a timely manner, and at or below the construction contract price." The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that Interstate 81 northbound will be closed to traffic between Exit 16A and the interchange with Interstate 481 northbound in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, for two consecutive weekends beginning at 7 p.m. HNTB served as lead designer for the new Kosciuszko Bridge Project, which carries traffic over Newtown Creek between Brooklyn and Queens, New York. A new cable-stayed bridge, which replaces the structurally deficient, 76-year-old existing span, is among the region’s first major cable-stayed bridges. As the New York State Department of Transportation’s largest-ever design-build project, it also sets the precedent for future design-builds statewide.

We are uniquely able to analyze the cost of construction during early design phases, guiding the design process in a more focused way. As part of HNTB's design work, the project design includes streetscape and landscape restoration and improvements. The streetscape pays close attention to context sensitive design and included the local community in the process through public involvement meetings while adhering the PROWAG, NYCDOT, NYC Parks and NYCDEP requirements. From single tenant retail to custom designed and built commercial and residential projects, Dynamic specializes in the design development and construction of real estate at every stage of the process. Our expertise in evaluating concepts and implementing ideas allows for skillful execution from initial design steps through timely completion. It includes street trees planted in a cobble-edged continuous trench with structural soil for greater vigor and longevity of the plantings.

The Iconic 'House on Haunted Hill' Mansion Just Hit the Market in California

the house on haunted hill

Evelyn and Steven are at one another’s throats, each trying to kill the other. Jennifer, Eddie and Pritchett search the basement for the security system's control panel. While exploring the labyrinthine basement, Jennifer confesses to Eddie that her real name is Sara Wolfe, the recently fired assistant to the real Jennifer. Shortly after, Sara is nearly drowned in a tank of blood by a ghost impersonating Eddie, but the real Eddie arrives in time to save her.

Vincent Price played Frederick Loren, an eccentric millionaire who rents a reportedly haunted mansion for one night under the pretense of hosting a party for his wife, Annabelle, whom he believes to be after his fortune. He explains to his guests that any among them who survives in the house for one night—during which all communication with the outside world will be cut—will receive a prize of $10,000. Each is presented with a pistol in order to fend off the house’s ghosts. Annabelle warns the guests that she fears Loren means her harm and meanwhile plots with her lover, Dr. Trent, to trick one of the guests into shooting him.

William Castle was a horror-loving high school dropout who worked his way through the film industry mainly through working on cheap B-movies. He gained a reputation for making films quickly and under budget, but he wanted to make more than throwaway flicks. Soon, he moved into directing and producing films independently. In 1955, he saw the legendary French thriller Les Diaboliques, and he knew that horror was the genre for him.

Storyline

Sara gets out, but The Darkness closes an iron gate, trapping Eddie. As the story goes, a long time ago, in a town not so far away, there was a textile mill where many workers were tortured. Obituaries received after Deadline will not be published in the following edition of the paper. Sony returns to their own Marvel universe with the upcoming Kraven the Hunter, which has been bumped all over the release schedule. The mansion was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1994 but was subsequently restored, at great expense to its most recent owner.

Cast

Nora, seeing Frederick enter the basement with a gun in his hand, does indeed shoot him. After she flees, David slips in to dispose of Frederick's body in the vat of acid, and the lights go out. After a wildly festive and successful Christmas-themed holiday haunt in December and Viktor’s Valentine in February, plus the new A St. Paddy’s Nightmare, Lincoln Mill returns for a second year with an all new experience. The soundtrack has also been changed to featuring cinematic Star Wars music but with a dark, horror twist. The character makeup and costuming will also be unique for this event featuring sith-inspired makeup and black sith robes. Over the years, several owners have reported strange occurrences within the house.

Despite the move, locals can’t help but wonder if the evil spirits have followed the house to its new site. As Meeker works to restore the home to its former glory, only time will tell if the ghostly inhabitants will make their presence known once more. It’s always fun to imagine living inside of an iconic horror movie house, which is why we always like to report on such locations going up for grabs. The latest, brought to our attention by Variety, is the mansion from William Castle’s original House on Haunted Hill, which was actually also featured in Blade Runner.

Casting

the house on haunted hill

Produced by Robert Zemeckis and Joel Silver, it is a remake of the 1959 film of the same title directed by William Castle, and features special effects by famed make-up artists Gregory Nicotero and Dick Smith. Frederick Loren, an eccentric millionaire, invites five people to a party he is throwing for his fourth wife, Annabelle, in an allegedly haunted house he has rented. He promises to give each guest $10,000 with the stipulation that they stay the entire night in the house after the doors are locked at midnight, all the windows are barred, and there are no phones or radios to use. All are strangers to both the Lorens and each other, their only commonality being their lust for money. In the tradition of William Castle's theater gimmicks, Warner Bros. Pictures supplied promotional scratchcards to cinemas showing the film, offering ticket buyers a chance to win a money prize, similar to the movie's characters.

May the 4th Corrupt You: Star Wars-themed haunted house will open for one day

Warner Home Video released the film on DVD as a tie-in to the release of the 1999 remake. The color version was released on DVD the same year by 20th Century Fox. Lincoln Mill Haunted House will change into space mode for what operators are calling May the 4th Corrupt You, a new Star Wars-inspired haunted house. The mansion’s reputation as a paranormal hotspot has attracted the attention of investigators and reporters alike. Over 20 years ago, a team of paranormal investigators spent the night in the house, hoping to capture evidence of ghostly activity.

‘Infested’ Review – One of the Best Spiders Attack Horror Movies in Years

Price, protected by a bulletproof vest and posing as dead, attacks Evelyn. As they scuffle, Evelyn is thrown through a decaying door, revealing the evil entity of the house – The Darkness. The building's security system is mysteriously tripped, locking everyone inside – a stunt which Price blames on Evelyn.

Lance and David propose that everyone stay in their rooms and shoot anyone who enters to survive the night. Thus the innocents will have no reason to leave their rooms (and a good reason to stay inside them) and the killer must stay put or admit guilt.

Price pulls a gun on the guests, demanding to know who killed his wife. Eddie knocks him out and they lock Price in the "Saturation Chamber", an archaic zoetrope device that Vannacutt used to treat schizophrenics. When the others leave, he turns the chamber on, leaving Price to be tortured by the moving images and ghostly hallucinations, resulting in a seizure. In Vannacutt's office, Sara and Eddie find a portrait of the hospital's head staff and realize that the party guests are descendants of the five survivors of the 1931 fire. Pritchett deduces that the spirits themselves hacked the guest list on Price's computer.

In 2007, the film was followed by a direct-to-DVD sequel, Return to House on Haunted Hill, which was released in both rated and unrated editions. Nora is chased from her room into the basement by Annabelle's ghost. Aroused by the ghostly sounds, David concludes that the killer is about and proposes he and Frederick split up to search the house. Lance uncovers a secret room at the end of the second-floor hall, but the door shuts behind him once he enters, trapping him. David instead meets with Annabelle, who had faked her death using a hanging harness and sedatives. Secretly lovers, the two of them have orchestrated the various mishaps to manipulate Nora into killing Frederick.

Popsicle stick catapults are also great for a maths-based activity if children record how far different sizes/weights of balls travel. We’ve found that small pom poms fly very well as they are light. Remember to emphasize the connections between the project and real-world applications of engineering, physics, and technology. Discuss historical catapults, their uses, and how modern engineering principles relate to the simple machines employed in a catapult design. Test different types of rubber bands (thick, thin, natural rubber, synthetic rubber) to observe how the material affects the catapult’s performance. Discuss the elasticity of different materials and their impact on launching.

You’ll find the step for this one, along with other fun activities, in our post about STEM Activities with popsicle sticks. The earliest form of catapults was the ballista and were used as a military weapon for long time and hence these catapults were called as ballistic devices. These ballista’s resembles today’s crossbows and were invented during the Greek and Roman period. Later, during medieval times catapults took the form of trebuchets to throw the objects or things to long distances. Eventually, the mangonel and onager types of catapults had been arrived and worked effectively.

#3 – Craft Stick and Bottle Cap Catapult

I decided on 250mm as a suitable length and using the jig saw I cut it to length. This was quite a clean cut, but I decided to use the sander to get rid of any cut marks. I also went over the entire piece so that it was smooth and looked a lot cleaner. I rounded over all of the edges and corners to ensure it looked more like a toy. Tie the rope with about two feet of slack between the back eye bolt and the bottom one. Next attach the bungee cord from the front eye bolt over the arm onto the arm eye bolt.

Now that we have a nice, smooth axle, we need something that will rotate about the axle and hold the arm. Get your ABS T-adapter, 2 sections of ABS pipe, and ABS cement. You might want to wear a respiratory mask and GLOVES for this one, too - that cement stuff is narsty! Spread the cement on the inside of the T adapter, and on the outside of whatever you're putting inside the adapter. You want a nice, even coat on both members, and don't apply too much. Tinker Toy Catapult activity is pretty simple and takes just a few minutes to build!

Always emphasize safety and responsible play while conducting these activities. With its easy construction and exciting launching action, the Paper Plate Catapult provides hours of fun while fostering a deeper understanding of science concepts. Fast forward to the present day, and you’ll find catapult designs have taken a leap beyond warfare. These incredible contraptions have found new life in industries you might not expect. These contraptions leveraged potential energy, flinging heavy projectiles with astounding accuracy.

Printed Catapults

First, you will want to stack 5 craft sticks on top of each other. You will want to rubber band these on both sides tightly together. This time you will want to carefully pay attention that you cut pieces accurately and glue and rubberband just at the right points to ensure your catapult is in perfect working order.

A plane, attached to the carriage, is pushed forward and the additional energy from the catapult helps it reach the speed necessary for take-off. Apply glue to the ends of one crossmember and near the pilot holes on the inside of the 10-inch frame pieces; screw the crossmember into place [2]. All you need to do is use the rubber band to attach the spoon to the cardboard tube. Get out your surgical tubing and tie one end off on the U-bolt that you bolted to one of the posts.

He’s widely considered one of the most iconic rappers of all time.

In order to make ends meet, he ends up renting out some of his rooms to newly divorced single mother Jackie Warren (Debbie Allen) and her two kids, Tiffany (Maia Campbell) and Austin (Jeffery Wood). Also part of the main cast was Lisa Arrindell Anderson as Jackie's demanding boss. UPN then canceled it again after two seasons, and the final 6-episode season aired in First-Run Syndication. Alfonso Ribeiro joined the cast of In the House in its third season, playing Dr. Maxwell Stanton, a friend of Marion’s and his coworker at the sports clinic. Best known for his role as Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ribeiro continued to work in entertainment after both shows.

On “In the House,” Jackie and Austin’s problems cropped up quicker than a rabbit on a date. Their story was a rollercoaster of jobs coming and going, relationships hitting the skids and, well, life tossing them lemons. Well, it’s the same old song and dance—ratings dipped, and the show couldn’t keep up with the heavy hitters. After five seasons of laughs and drama, the network pulled the plug, leaving fans wanting just one more episode.

The show wasn’t just a platform for laughs; it was a launching pad for burgeoning talent. For these stars, the sitcom was both a playground and a springboard, catapulting them from a cozy living room to the bedazzling lights of stardom. When “In the House” first graced our screens, little did we know the seismic waves it would send across pop culture. Each actor brought a unique spark to the show that resonated far beyond the ’90s. LL Cool J stepped as a charismatic fountain of wisdom, while dynamic characters like Tonia Harris, portrayed by Kim Wayans, added a whole spectrum of color to the narrative.

Fourteen of those Democrats voted on Saturday in favor of aid to Israel, while 12 Democrats who voted to allow the package on the floor on Friday then cast votes against the funding itself. "I feel it’s important to share what I have been going through the past seven weeks with becoming a mom and now this," she wrote in an Instagram post at the time (in part). "I am SO in love with Dean and beyond grateful to have a healthy baby. But this has been the hardest adjustment of my life. That said, some friends do stick around — never leave us, Lindsay Hubbard! — and even show up in the colder seasons, thanks to Winter House. As for Debbie Allen on “In the House,” she was the cat’s meow for a solid three seasons.

Twenty-five Republicans voted against the fourth bill, which included measures that could lead to a ban on TikTok in the United States and that would redirect funds from seized Russian assets to help aid Ukraine. Democrats put up a big vote — 174 — in favor of this bill, which was intended to sweeten the overall package for conservatives. Below is a list of actors and actresses that are or were part of the cast of the American drama television series House. Playing Marion Hill, the ex-football player turned kiddo caretaker, LL Cool J brought the cool, muscle, and a dash of soft side that made folks swoon. Maia Campbell, who played Tiffany Warren, dipped out for a bit in the fourth season due to her real-life pregnancy. But like a boomerang, she swung back around for the fifth season to give us a little more of that Tiffany charm.

She got to spread her wings and soar off to bigger and, hopefully, better things. Years down the line, the kids have grown, and so have their résumés. The core members of the cast have since danced through life’s various stages, some sticking to their acting roots while others branching out into exciting new frontiers.

Enraged, Dalton kills one of the thugs responsible and captures a sheriff's deputy making a large delivery of Brandt's illicit cash, framing the deputy for the murder and taking the money. The sheriff soon informs Dalton that Brandt has kidnapped Ellie and will exchange her for the money. At the Road House, Dalton fends off a motorcycle gang working for local crime boss Ben Brandt and personally drives the injured thugs to the hospital, where he meets Ellie, a doctor who tends to his injuries. Staying in Frankie's disused houseboat, Dalton mentors the other bouncers and becomes popular with the locals. After an attempt on his life by gang leader Dell, Dalton finds him lying in wait at his houseboat. He throws Dell overboard but is unable to save him from being killed and eaten by a crocodile.

Troubled former UFC middleweight fighter Elwood Dalton makes a living scamming fighters on the underground circuit. He is approached by Frankie, the owner of an unruly roadhouse in the Florida Keys community of Glass Key, who offers him a job as head bouncer. Initially hesitant, Dalton takes up the offer after narrowly averting a suicide attempt with a freight train that destroys his car. He takes a bus to Frankie's establishment, called simply The Road House, and befriends Charlie, a teenager who runs a bookstore with her father, Stephen. An earlier version of this article incorrectly identified the political party of a group of representatives who notably voted “no” on new aid for Israel. The plan, laid out in a rule that passed on Friday, was concocted to capitalize on the pools of support for each part of the $95 billion package, while preventing opposition to any one piece from taking down all of them.

UPN canceled the series in May 1998.[2] The series ran in first-run syndication for a fifth and final season, which ended on August 11, 1999. Still, 37 “no” votes, while a break from Washington’s ironclad support for the Jewish state, fell short of the opposition bloc progressives had hoped to muster. Thirty-nine Democrats had voted “no” on Friday on the rule to allow the foreign aid package to come to the House floor, a target that progressives just missed on Saturday on the Israel bill.

While he wasn't on our TV screens full-time for long, he still has a special relationship with the camera, working as a writer and director under his own company, Leoni Pictures. But there are also plenty of Summer House cast members we've seen leave since the show first premiered in January 2017. He was brought to life by the large and in charge Tony Longo.
